In June 2009, an opportunity arose to learn Gaelic intensively for 2 weeks at Glasgow University. I learned lots but quickly I realised it wasn't enough to keep it! To keep my new language alive I needed to be speaking it often. I wasn't the only learner in this position, so I started up Glasgow's Gaelic Conversation Group. |

The first Meetup was held in August where Davina gave a wee talk in Gaelic about her experience growing up in a Gaelic community and how she uses the language in the workplace at MyGaelic.com. | ![]() |

first evening at the Argyll Hotel who kindly sponsor the group by
providing us with use of the bar area and their board room.

We currently meet on the first Wednesday each month at the Argyll Hotel at the top of Sauchiehall Street (round the corner from the Park Bar). Our meetups are informal and aimed at everyone who has an interest in Gaelic. | In the first three months, the group attracted almost 40 members and each meetup to date has been growing and now after 6 months has about 80 members who are a mix of native speakers, experienced learners and beginners. |
